After 15-Years of Service, David Kobeck Resigns PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 26 May 2009 13:52
On Sunday, May 24, 2009, David Kobeck resigned the position of Music Minister at Southside Baptist Church.  Of course, after 15-years of service, David and his family will be deeply missed.  David first came to Southside as the church pianist in 1994, and in 2002 was asked to fill both roles: pianist and Music Minister.  Throughout all of these years, Jennifer has served alongside him playing the organ and singing when needed.  We at Southside have benefited greatly from their musical talent and from his submission to the Spirit's leadership in planning services.

June 14, 2009, will be their last service with us.  While we will certainly miss their talents for playing and planning and miss their company, we will not miss the friendship and love we share for one another; for that is unchanged.  As Jason Cherry, Chairman of the Personnel Committee, stated in response, "David, we thank you for being a beacon of faithful service as you have led us in songs of worship for many years 'constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ' (1 Thess. 1:3a).  Though you are departing from this local gathering of believers,  our unity and fellowship with you and your family continues; for 'there is one body and one Spirit... one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.' (Eph. 4:4-6)."

It is our prayer that David and Jennifer continue to be used of God to lead His people to worship in Spirit and in Truth through the God-honoring use of their talents.  We pray that their shared ministry will be graciously empowered by the Spirit and serve as a blessing to God the Father as they continue to exalt the Son, Christ Jesus.  May grace and peace be with them always.
